This is a small copper bonsai sculpture. The tree has been specifically sculpted using bare copper that is free to react and oxidise. I have taken advantage of this by adding a strong patina to age the piece and darken the copper down. I love that this tree is free to evolve from the original copper wire colour into the darkened mature version you see photographed.
The tree has been sealed with a light varnish (which is not visible to the naked eye) to hold the ageing process where it is.
The bonsai tree has been mounted on to slate stone to add to the darkness of this piece and to complement the patina on the foliage.
This is a unique tree that really captures the power of time and strength of the elements in nature.
