For this piece I have gone for simple petite elegance and a gorgeous combination of my lilac beads against silver wire. I decided to do something that was small enough to sit on any work-desk; dressing table or other compact space, yet is just as undeniably beautiful as one of the larger pieces I craft.
This wire tree sculpture utilises one of my favourite wires, a sturdy antique silver wire that is delicate in its visual appeal. The wire has been coupled with very complimentary lilac beads, each of which has been individual tied on by hand (no glue used here!) so they will last the test of time and look stunning too.
To finish this piece I have mounted the tree onto a bark base, the ridges in the bark allow the roots to ‘grow’ along them, juxtaposing the natural basing material against the man-made wire and hand twisted root system. The dark brown of the bark really makes the silver wire roots stand out and adds that extra level of visual appeal.
As a final finishing tough I have added purple felt on to the bottom of the bark to create the perfect base that will not scratch even the most delicate of work surfaces.
